The Transpersonal Section Committee has agreed to underwrite a bursary scheme for individuals who are student members of the section that have submissions accepted for the conference. The award is to the value of £25.00 (including VAT) for each day of the conference for which the awardee is registered and will be deducted from their registration fee. This is a competitive award with limited places. Those wishing to apply need to confirm their student member status and their wish to apply for the bursary when submitting their abstract.

Submissions for the Transpersonal Psychology Section Annual Conference 2018 closed at 23:59 on Sunday 22nd July 2018.

Registration fees can be found on the booking form. Early Bird registration were available until at 16.00 on Friday 17th August 2018.

Speakers and Facilitators


Prof Brian Les Lancaster

Keynote Speaker
Brian Les Lancaster is Professor Emeritus of Transpersonal Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University, Associated Distinguished Professor of Integral and Transpersonal Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies, and an Honorary Research Fellow in the Centre for Jewish Studies at Manchester University. He is currently a Board member of the Association for Transpersonal Psychology, and has previously been Chair of the Transpersonal Psychology Section of the BPS and President of the International Transpersonal Association. Les is Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Sacred Science Circle, and a Founding Director of the Alef Trust, which promotes postgraduate studies in transpersonal psychology.

Dr Andrew Powell

Keynote Speaker
Andrew formerly held academic and NHS consultant posts in psychiatry and psychotherapy in London and Oxford for over 20 years. He is co-editor of Spirituality and Psychiatry (2009) and Spirituality and Narrative in Psychiatric Practice (2016) published by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and author of The Ways of the Soul. A Psychiatrist reflects: Essays on Life, Death and Beyond (2017) and Conversations with the Soul (2018), published by Muswell Hill Press. Andrew is Founding Chair of the College's Spirituality and Psychiatry Special Interest Group.

Dr Penny Sartori

Keynote Speaker
Penny Sartori worked as a nurse for 21 years and undertook the UK’s first long-term prospective hospital study of near-death experiences (NDEs) for which she was awarded a PhD. She has published four books including the best seller The Wisdom of Near-Death Experiences in 2014. Her latest book is a collaboration co-authored by Kelly Walsh and called The Transformative Power of Near-Death Experiences.

Dr Steve Taylor

Keynote Speaker
Steve Taylor, PhD, is a senior lecturer in psychology at Leeds Beckett University, UK. His papers have been published in the Journal of Humanistic Psychology, the Journal of Consciousness Studies, the Journal of Transpersonal Psychology and elsewhere. His books include The Fall, Waking From Sleep, The Leap and his new book Spiritual Science: Why Science Needs Spirituality to Make Sense of the World. For the last 7 years he has appeared in Mind Body Spirit magazine's list of the 'World's 100 most spiritually influential people.' He is also the author of two books of poetic meditations, including The Calm Center.
