Learning outcomes and objectives

  • give a brief overview of the ACT model, its background, its evidence-base and applicability across many areas of life
  • focus on how ACT can help us support Palliative Care clients to deal with difficult thoughts and emotions, identify valued directions for their remaining life and take committed action in pursuit of them
  • show how it can help us support our colleagues in providing good palliative care, and cope with its emotional impact on themselves

The day will contain a combination of didactic, experiential and skills-practice techniques.

To help those entirely new to the approach, some introductory reading material will be circulated before-hand

The ACT psychological model is underpinned by a strong evidence base which will be expanded upon during the training.
