"Staying Safe and Keeping out of Trouble" Safeguarding Individuals with an Autistic Spectrum Condition

There is an increasing awareness that working with young people with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) presents particular challenges in terms of safeguarding. This course will help those working in this area to have a greater understanding of Autism and to have available strategies for ensuring effective practice.

  • Promoting effective communication skills
  • Helping young people to develop appropriate social skills
  • Developing appropriate interpersonal skills (including sexual relationships) with someone with ASD
  • Specific areas of concern such as the internet
  • Best practice in safeguarding young people with Autism
