Formulation is a key competence for all clinical psychologists. Team formulation, the process of facilitating a group or team of professionals to develop a shared understanding about a service user, is a more recent but rapidly-growing development in this area. It is also a key area of competence in the DCP Leadership Framework (2010.) All the speakers have experience of this way of working. They will describe the process of setting up, facilitating and evaluating team formulation meetings and projects, and the strengths and challenges of this approach. Up to date research findings and reference lists will be supplied.

Learning Outcomes

  • Get up to date on theory and research relating to team formulation
  • Think about how to sell and implement this approach in services
  • Learn about strategies for facilitating team formulation meetings
  • Be introduced to relevant resources and handouts
  • Understand the wider context in which team formulation has emerged
