This one day workshop explores the history and concept of diagnosis and in particular relation to the DSM-5. The relationship between professionals and diagnosis in their clinical work and various perspectives from members of medical teams will be considered. Working from a psychological perspective in teams will include considering personality disorder, psychosis and suicidality.
There will be space for attendees to learn and discuss how to influence and guide decision making in community and ward teams, and a large group discussion to consider reactions to the topic where attendees will have the opportunity to pose questions. A service user perspective will be incorporated throughout the day.
Speaker: John McGowan, Clive Sims and Jo Hemmingfield
