Supporting Young People moving into adult services using the Care Act 2014

Many practitioners face the challenge of how to ensure young adults (18-25), access and retain appropriate care and support of the Care Act 2014 (including access to adult assessment and services).

The Athena Programme safeguarding experts in this area of work will train practitioners in the changes by the implementation of the new Care Act 2014. Several elements of the Act should support young adults transitioning between children and adult services. It is therefore critical for practitioners are be able to identify the triggers and the support needs of these individuals.

Target audience

Anybody who works with;

  • people within supported living or living on their own or have services for both children and adults
  • children reaching their 18th birthday
