ERDF Annual Information Event 2009

Venue: National College for School Leadership, Nottingham
Date:Friday 30th October 2009

Introduction

East Midlands Development Agency (emda) is one of nine English Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) set up by the Government in April 1999 to drive up the economic performance of the regions.

In 2007, emda was given responsibility for managing the East Midlands 2007-13 ERDF Programme to provide alignment between ERDF, regional funding streams and the priorities of the East Midlands Regional Economic Strategy. ERDF helps to tackle regional disparities and support regional development across the European Union's (EU's) Member States, providing regions with funding for projects which contribute to their economic development and regeneration, promote competitiveness and deliver sustainable development.

The East Midlands qualifies as a competitiveness and employment region under the EU's Cohesion Policy and in 2008 emda launched the East Midlands 2007-13 ERDF Competitiveness Programme with the aim of ‘becoming a region of highly productive, innovative and sustainable businesses and supporting the most disadvantaged of our communities to realise their economic potential'. As the Programme manager it is emda's responsibility to hold an annual event for the Programme highlighting what it is achieving across the region. emda will be holding therefore the first East Midlands 2007-13 ERDF Annual Information Event on Friday 30th October 2009 at the National College for School Leadership, Nottingham.

Aimed at ERDF stakeholders, partners and project managers, the event is intended to:

  • Inform delegates of past, present and future Programme developments
  • Showcase some of the excellent projects being supported by the Programme
  • Provide workshops for ERDF project managers to address common delivery issues

A small exhibition of ERDF projects will also be held to engage delegates over registration and refreshment breaks and the event will be an excellent networking opportunity. More information about the East Midlands ERDF Competitiveness Programme can be found on the ERDF website http://www.eastmidlandserdf.org.uk/
