Belmas Annual International Conference 2010
Venue: Wokefield Park, Reading
Date: Friday 9th July 2010
Introduction
Dear Colleagues
BELMAS returns to the excellent Wokefield Park venue for Conference 2010, ‘New organisations, new leadership?' from Friday 9th - Sunday 11th July. This year we have a variety of keynote speakers, and panellists for you.
From Scotland we have a keynote from Don Ledingham, Executive Director of Education and Children's Services, East Lothian; from the USA, we welcome Autumn Tooms. Autumn works at Kent State University, Ohio, and is President Elect 2010 of the University Council of Educational Administration (UCEA).
Autumn's work is dedicated to bridging the gap between those who lead schools, and those who study and prepare school leaders. She studies the principalship, focusing on identity, equity, school reform, and the micro-politics of the position.
We also welcome, Liz Nicholson, Director of Services for Children and Families in Shropshire, and panel discussions with experts from both schools and colleges. A special panel session will look at leadership in the Far East. As well as these invited guests, there will be over 50 papers from BELMAS members in schools, colleges and other services, all tackling the theme of our conference.
Please use this website to find all the information that you will need to present a paper at BELMAS 2010, or just attend. This year, Chair of the conference is Colin Russell, headteacher from Edinburgh, and Dorothy Moir is the conference manager as usual. We do have a change this year, in that the conference organisation will be managed overall by KC Jones. We hope to maintain our friendly conference and at the same time be even more professional in our approach!
We look forward to seeing you at Wokefield.
Megan Crawford
