Background
It is no secret that the way we power transport is changing. Society needs to reduce its dependency on fossil fuels and so industry is responding. More and more transport systems are becoming electrified which is posing both an opportunity and a threat to transport related companies. The East Midlands has a strong transport engineering heritage and this engineering base is responding to the changing climate but it is a race and we need all the help we can get to stay ahead.
There are many notable examples of East Midlands companies pioneering the way with electric vehicles. There are also many unseen projects being undertaken in the region. All the successful projects have one key thing in common and that is they use the skills and resources of several companies. There is not one single company that could design, develop and build an electric vehicle without using the resources of other organisations. However, all the skills and resources do exist in one region - the East Midlands - and for the region to stay ahead all we need to do is bring them all together.
