Towards 100% Participation Conference Delegates will be aware of the The Childrens Plan: Building brighter futures, published by the Department for Children, Schools and Families. Contained within the Plan is the aim to Ensure young people are participating and achieving their potential to 18 and beyond. Legislation will be introduced to raise the participation age to 17 from 2013 and 18 from 2015. The Government wants young people to have the skills they need to prosper in a high skills economy and in doing so, change the expectations and aspirations of young people, their parents and the education and training system. Whilst Lincolnshire and Rutland have a strong performance in terms of meeting NEET targets, achieving 100% participation in education and training will present significant challenges for all who are involved in delivering the outcomes of Every Child Matters. The aims of the conference are: - To raise awareness of the issues and challenges in achieving 100% participation - To explore the roles of key stakeholders and partners in enabling all 16-18 year olds to engage in learning - To share examples of good practice in engaging and retaining young people in learning - To enable participants to identify future action they need to take to meet the challenge of 100% participation. The Conference will take place on Tuesday 1st April 2008 at the Lawn at Lincoln. If you wish to register for this event please complete the online booking form.
