Leading Through Change

In the dramatically fast-changing world we live in today, innovation is critical to success and depends upon truly inspirational leadership. There has been a substantive change in terms of what is required of good leaders over recent years. Those organisations whose leaders do not move with the times will undoubtedly face serious problems in an ever more uncertain future where competition is increasingly intense. Leaders today, at all levels, have to inspire their people right across and through the organisation to want and to be fully involved in continually coming up with better ways of doing things to keep ahead of the competition. The old days of “command and control” are gone.

If you are to be sufficiently fleet of foot to stay ahead of the competition in today’s extremely fast-changing environment a collective approach that unleashes innovation and creativity is essential. Inspirational leadership leads to a highly motivated workforce which, in turn, leads to inspirational results.

Growing a Successful Business in a Challenging Environment

Hear from three highly successful East Midlands based companies who are still involved in the managing the day to day running of their organisations. They will share their experiences of the highs and lows of being in business and the barriers they faced and overcame. This seminar will explore practical ways of growing a successful business in a challenging environment, offer examples of good practice and advice and with smaller groups the audience will be encouraged to ask questions and gain advice. The morning seminar will be chaired by Gerald Ratner and the afternoon seminar by Ruth Badger.

Channelling Conflict
A fresh perspective on workplace conflict and its real (if hidden) costs. Conflict is one of the biggest blockages to performance and well-being, both for individuals and organisations. It is a deeply ingrained part of our culture and daily life. It represents a massive cost to business, estimated at around £33 billion pa in the UK. The problem is that much of this cost is disguised under headings such as absenteeism, low motivation, wasted management time, high staff turnover, etc. This seminar is all about offering new ways of thinking about conflict. A deliberately irreverent session, it will give an insight into and new understanding of conflict that is equally relevant to business and home life. There won’t be any PowerPoint! There will be lots of questions for you to mull over and plenty of stories. It will warm your heart and make your hair curl!

Team Building and Body Language
How to manage office politics. Judi James, is a leading expert in body language and communication skills and has a regular body language series on Channel 5 called Naked Celebrity. She has written eight self-help books and writes a regular weekly column for ‘You’ magazine and worked on Big Brother’s Little Brother as well as Fame Academy. Based on her best-selling book this lively session, ‘Body Talk’ includes tips on how to raise your profile, make an entrance, successful networking skills and how to get the best results from your key communications.
